Dr Nira Arbel received her Ph.D in clinical psychology from the University of Montreal in 1994. She worked for 13 years at the Fernand Seguin Research Center of the Louis H. Lafontaine Hospital with treatment outcome studies for sexual dysfunction and social phobia. Her roles were group therapist, research coordinator and co-author on many publications. She also worked as a psychologist treating couples and individuals at the Sex and Couple Therapy Service at the McGill University Health Center at the Royal Victoria Hospital for five years. She has been in private practice at the Centre de Psychologie Behaviorale clinic since 1991 where she became a partner in 2006. She treats couples and adult individuals. Her areas of specialization include relationship issues, sex dysfunctions, anxiety disorders, depression, obsessive compulsive disorders and burnout. Her approach is a combination of cognitive behavioural, mindfulness/acceptance (ACT) and emotionally focused therapy (EFT).
