Carla B. Najem, MA

Ms. Carla Najm is a candidate for licensing by the OPQ through equivalence and is a
licensed clinical psychologist in Lebanon. She holds a Masters and a Bachelors degree in
Psychology from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. She has over 12 years of
clinical, research, and university teaching experience. She has trained at Hotel Dieu De
France, Lebanon and has developed expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and
Youth mental health through certifications from the Beck Insitute, Philadelphia and
Massachusetts General Hospital.
In Lebanon, Carla worked as a child and adolescent psychologist at the American
Univeristy of Beirut (AUBMC) for five years. She worked with children, adolescents and
young adults with a variety of mood, anxiety, personality, and neurodevelopmental disorders,
both on individual and group basis. She provided parenting sessions, guidance, and
counseling to families of youth with difficulties. Before joining AUBMC, Carla worked as a
psychologist at a specialized assessment and therapy center (SKILD) for three years where
she provided psychometric testing, parental counseling, training of school personnel, and
psychotherapy for children and adolescents. She also worked independently in private
practice for three years where she treated adult clients of all ages with a wide range of
difficulties. Carla has taught Psychology and Child and Adolescent Development courses at
the American University of Beirut and at the Lebanese American University. She has been
involved in scientific research studies and has developed governmental mental health
guidelines, trainings, workshops, and seminars to specialists, organizations, school personnel,
and parents.
Since moving to Canada, Carla has worked as a clinical trainer and supervisor for the
Preventure Lab at the Chu-St Justine. She has been with CPB since 2022 and has developed
further expertise in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for adults. Carla specializes
in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and integrates ACT in her practice. She works with
clients of all ages with different difficulties especially, mood and anxiety disorders, obsessive
compulsive disorder, personality disorders, relational problems, parenting difficulties, stress
and burnout. Carla practices in French, English and Arabic.
